St. Benedict Mission Painting.JPG

St. Benedict Mission, Young, AZ

This image of St. Benedict was commissioned by the parishioners of St. Benedict Mission located in the small town of Young, Arizona. Young is located in the historic Pleasant Valley and has a population of approximately 600 people. It is part of the Diocese of Tucson. The initial painting had a more iconic gold background but was changed to incorporate the unique landscape of Young. The mountain over the right shoulder of St. Benedict is actually named "Catholic Peak."
